Yes. Rental cars are arguably the best-kept used cars you can buy. They are maintained on a regular basis, cleaned constantly and usually have fairly good mileage. Have you ever had a rental car break down on you? I certainly haven’t. Generally all rental cars are taken out of service after 2 years, so you’re getting a fairly new car with decent mileage and most likely well kept. All of our previous reccomendations about buying used cars applies because rentals can still have the same problems. Unlike a private owner who has owned the car for a long time, a rental car has probably had 300 different daily owners. Make sure you get a factory warranty or at least a free limited warranty. Try and be prepared before going to talk to a car rental agency about buying one of their cars. They do not bargain for their cars on a regular basis as we have found out, so have a good price in your head and compare it with what they tell you.
