How To Order A Free Credit Report Something Everyone Should Know

Since the 2003 Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act was created, every American has the right to a free copy of their credit report every year from each of the three major credit bureaus. Equifax is the fastest and safest place to obtain your credit report and resolve credit issue.

The most effective way to analyze your credit score is to order a free credit report from each of the three bureaus once a year. Ordering a credit report each year is very important considering all the mistakes that can begin showing up which affect your credit.

There are three different ways to order your free credit report from the three bureaus, which are listed below.

1. www.annualcreditreport.com is the only certified source for you to access your annual credit report online for free. Do not trust other sources for this as they could be fraudulent.

2. You can also receive a free credit report by calling this number: 877-322-8228.

3. You can also complete the form on the back of the "Annual Credit Report Request" brochure which is available from the FTC web site. Print out the form and mail it to : Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.

Make sure you order all three credit reports at one time. This will ensure that you have the most accurate information about your credit. Ordering from the Centralized Agency is the person to deal with at the bureaus. Otherwise, if you go directly to the credit reporting agencies, you will be charged a fee unless you fit pre-determined criteria (if you need a credit-check for auto, house, etc., you will not be charged a fee).

*When trying to order your credit report on-line, beware of ordering your free credit reports from fraudulent, deceptive and misspelled domains that will charge for the same service you have the right to get for free.

Don’t Worry:

You're still entitled to a free credit report if: you've been denied a loan, insurance policy or job based on your credit report; you're applying for unemployment or receive public assistance; or you currently reside in a state that already offers one or more annual free credit reports.

*A credit report does not contain your credit score.
